BOISE STATE COMMEMORATES BALCH’S 100TH BIRTHDAY
WITH EXHIBIT
Boise State University’s Albertsons Library is
celebrating the centennial of Glenn Balch’s birth, which is Dec. 11, with an
exhibit commemorating his life and career as of one of Idaho’s favorite
authors.
Balch was born in 1902 and died in 1989. He was best known
as a writer of best-selling children’s books.
The exhibit features books, photos, documents, cover art
and other materials from the Glenn Balch Collection in the Idaho Writers Archive
at Boise State. It will be on display in the second floor exhibit cases in the
library until March 30, 2003, and can be seen whenever the library is open.
A Web site with several of the images from the exhibit as
well as a biographical sketch and indexes to the Glenn Balch Collection is
available on the Web at http://library.boisestate.edu/special/balch.htm.
The exhibit has been made possible by donations from Balch’s
four children.
