Boise State Choral Groups perform April 21 at Morrison Center
Boise State University choral groups will perform a concert of music befitting the spring season at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, April 21, in the Morrison Center Main Hall. Admission at the door is $5 adults, $3 seniors and free to students of all ages and Boise State faculty and staff.
Performing groups include Meistersingers, Chamber Singers, Vox Angelis (also known as the Women’s Chorale), Men’s Chorus, University Singers and Vocal Jazz.
The Chamber Singers will perform movements from the masterwork "Missa Pange Lingua" by Josquin des Prez. Meistersingers will sing some repertoire from the lighter side, including Bernstein’s "Warmup," and students Warren Barnes and Sam Jacobson will guest conduct. Vox Angelis will perform Jewish folk music and a setting of madrigals to Shakespearean texts by composer Crystal La Point Kowalski.
Vocal Jazz will perform songs by Charlie Parker and New York Voices and a tune from the Gene Harris Vocal Jazz Library. The Men’s Chorus will perform barbershop selections, a ballad and humorous songs.
The Meistersingers, Vox Angelis, Chamber Singers and University Singers are directed by Boise State music professor Giselle Wyers. The Men’s Chorus and Vocal Jazz are directed by Boise State music professor James Jirak.
