Guitarist Tomas Rodriguez will perform at Boise State University at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 20, in the Special Events Center.
Inspired by musical influences such as Jimi Hendrix, Andres Segovia and Joao Gilberto, Rodriguez taught himself to play the guitar at age 17. He continued studying music at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City with classical guitarist Sharon Isbin. His music, while embracing many moods, remains grounded in the spiritual. His 1998 debut CD, “Guitarra de mi Alma,” has been a regional bestseller.
Rodriguez has performed concerts at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Museum of Modern Art and the American Museum of Natural History to name a few. He has also toured internationally in Germany, Austria, France, Spain and Egypt.
The concert is part of the Student Union Classic Performances Series, which is sponsored by Boise State Student Union and Activities. The series is designed for and by students to bring unique contemporary performers to campus.
Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for students, faculty, staff, alumni and seniors. Tickets are available at Select-a-Seat locations, online at www.idahotickets.com and at 426-1766. Free parking will be available in the Liberal Arts parking lot. For more information call 426-4636.
