Selland College Offers Variety of Electronic Career Options
The Selland College of Applied Technology at Boise State University is introducing several
choices for students interested in pursuing electronics careers. This fall, students can complete
one year of electronic core classes and then specialize in a technical career area such as manufacturing
(robotics) systems technology, broadcast technology, semiconductor manufacturing technology or general
electronics.
Students can complete a program in as little as 24 months, said Mike Lyons, manager for manufacturing and
engineering technology in the Selland College.
“These options give students a chance to learn the basics of electronics the first year and gain an
overview of all of the careers before specializing in a certain area of expertise,” Lyons said. “Our
goal is to be responsive, flexible and market-driven.”
The Selland College offers more than 40 professional-technical career certificate and degree training
programs at campus locations in Boise and Nampa. Programs are currently accepting applications, and
financial aid is available. Prospective students are encouraged to call the Selland College Student
Services Office at 426-1431 for more information or to meet with a career adviser. Program enrollment
is limited.
