Tickets are on sale for a tasty Treasure Valley tradition — the annual International Food, Song and Dance Festival presented by Boise State University’s International Student Association. Savor cuisine, music and dance from around the world from 6-9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, in the Boise State Student Union Jordan Ballroom. Tickets are available at Select-a-Seat.

The menu will include food dishes selected by Boise State international students from their home countries — vegetarian and beef curry (Hong Kong), mint chicken salad (Vietnam), tortilla de patata (Spain), garbanzo beans (India) and a Costa Rican dessert.

In keeping with this year’s theme, "World Street Parade," students will parade in traditional dress from their nations. Entertainment will include Spanish classical guitar, the 7-year-old sister of a Boise State student performing a traditional Indian dance, the Boise Highlanders bagpipers, an Indian chanting group demonstrating their culture’s 5,000-year-old tradition and, back by popular demand, an African drumming group. Boise State has about 300 international students from 55 countries.

Also new this year is a raffle of cultural items brought back from winter break by several international students, including Swedish coffee, a Chinese scarf and other mementos. Festival tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for Boise State faculty and staff, $8 for Boise State students and $5 for kids 12 and under at Select-a-Seat outlets or by contacting 426-1494 or www.idahotickets.com. Advance tickets are recommended as this event usually sells out, however, any remaining tickets will be available at the door the night of the festival.

A table seating eight may be reserved for $125. For table reservations or other information about the festival contact Jill Siepert at the Boise State International Programs office at 426-3652.
