BOISE STATE’S COLLEGE OF BUSINESS AND ECONOMICS REACCREDITED
Boise State University’s College of Business and Economics’ undergraduate and graduate business administration programs have been reaccredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. AACSB-International is the premier agency for business school accreditation.
Only 32 percent of the business programs in the United States have obtained this accreditation. As of January 2002, there were 411 accredited members — 396 in North America (387 in the U.S., seven in Canada and two in Mexico), eight in Europe, three in Asia, one in Central America, one in the Middle East and two in South America.
To achieve the accreditation, business programs must satisfy the expectations of a wide range of quality standards relating to curriculum, faculty resources, admissions, degree requirements, library and computer facilities, financial resources and intellectual climate that all are mission-linked.
"Attending an AACSB accredited program assures the student of an excellent academic curricula tied to real-life business experiences," said Boise State President Charles Ruch. "Boise State University is proud to continue to receive this recognition."
College of Business and Economics Dean Bill Lathen credited both the faculty and community for the college’s success. "I thank the faculty, staff, students, alumni, business professionals and administration who did so much to help us maintain this top quality recognition, which we have held continually since 1979," he said.
During the accreditation process, Boise State was evaluated by business school deans who are leaders in the field of management education, applying AACSB-International accreditation standards that are widely accepted and adopted by the educational and business communities.
The commendation identified the following strengths at Boise State:
