ATTEND THIRD ANNUAL EVENING OF CUTTING-EDGE EXTREME SPORTS VIDEOS

This year’s Sawtooth Film Festival will showcase a collection of eight short, action-packed films featuring fearless kayakers, climbers, surfers, snowboarders, skiers and more at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 1, in the Boise State University Special Events Center.
Admission is $5 at the door.The event is a fund-raiser for the Boise State Outdoor Center.
Both the lives and sports of athletes will be explored in the following films:
“Boat Trip,” a compelling 15-minute film that will leave you with a winter’s worth of adventure. Join three professional skiers as they explore the British Columbia Coast Range with their 110-foot yacht and an A-Star helicopter.
“1st B.A.S.E,” a biography of a BASE jumper, this film follows the intrepid athlete on his adventures around the world.
“Beyond Gravity,” narrated by acclaimed climber and author Greg Child, this film features many of North America’s top climbers into their vertical worlds and lifestyles.
“UNIZABA,” follows mountain unicycle guru Kris Holm in a descent down El Pico de Orizaba, North America’s third highest mountain. Holm is later joined by fellow mountaineer and unicyclist Nathan Hoover and the two take on terrain ranging from rooftops in Mexico City to a crater rim at 18,400 feet.
“Still Twitchin’,” the third in a series of kayaking videos, Boise local David Norrell, along with three fellow thrill-seekers, team up to run first descents in British Columbia, Southeast Asia and the United States.
“Gandwana,” produced by pro surfer Pancho Sullivan, this film features top surfers such as Sunny Garcia, Andy Irons, Miles Padacca, Braden Dias, Rob Machado, Manoa Drollet and more.
“Beyond Limits,” filmed in Hawaii, this mini-documentary explores the life and sport of professional boogie boarder Liz Arlin.
“Faster,” this four-minute film includes hilarious snow sledding antics that will have the crowd laughing out loud.
Dozens of items including skis and goggles will be given away as raffle prizes. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. The film festival is sponsored by the Boise State Outdoor Center, Arbiter,Outside Magazine, K2 Sports, Dagger Kayaks, Smith Optics and Sawtooth Films. For more information, call 426-1946.
