January 23, 2002 FIFTH AVENUE VOCAL JAZZ ENSEMBLE FEATURED AT FESTIVAL Vocal jazz ensemble Fifth Avenue from Las Vegas and Boise State University Vocal Jazz will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, in the Student Union Jordan Ballroom at a concert capping a junior high and high school jazz festival. Admission at the door is $3. "Fifth Avenue is made up of four swinging singers accompanied by piano, bass and drums," said Boise State Vocal Jazz director and professor of choral music education Jim Jirak. "They are making their second appearance at the Boise State Vocal Jazz Festival, and the last time they brought down the house with their tight harmonies, their hot improvisations and their cookin’ rhythm section."
