CELEBRATE THE VIETNAMESE LUNAR NEW YEAR WITH DANCING, FASHION & CUISINE
Watch a Dragon Dance, sample Vietnamese cuisine and move your feet to the tango, rumba and other ballroom dances at an authentic Lunar New Year Celebration. Join the Boise State University Vietnamese Student Association in commemorating this festive event from 7-11 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9 , in the Student Union Jordan Ballroom.
The most important holiday in Vietnam, the Lunar New Year is like Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year all rolled into one. The Jordan Ballroom will be adorned with yellow blossoms that bloom during the new year and everything will be decorated in red and yellow. Here are some of the highlights of the evening:
Cultural Performances, such as the Dragon Dance, the Flower Dance and other traditional dances of Vietnam.
Traditional New Year cuisine, such as moon cakes, gooseberries, sweet candied fruits,watermelon seeds, eggrolls and many more traditional foods eaten during this time.
A fashion show, featuring Vietnamese ao dai dresses, the traditional garment worn by women and girls.
