NEW MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP HONORS INFLUENTIAL TEACHERS
Individuals will have an opportunity to honor an influential teacher who has had a positive impact on their lives as part of a new scholarship program in the College of Education at Boise State University.
The “Outstanding Teacher Memorial Scholarship” will be funded by donations from people who want to pay personal tribute to a memorable teacher. The donations will be used to create a scholarship for a top Boise State student majoring in education.
“Many of us can name a teacher who made a difference in our lives. This is a chance to honor that teacher, as well as to provide a scholarship for an outstanding student who plans to enter the teaching profession,” said Joyce Garrett, dean of the College of Education.
Donations of any amount will be accepted, and the teacher honored will be sent a letter from the College of Education that a gift has been received in his or her name. For deceased teachers, a letter will be sent to the teacher’s family, if the information is submitted by the donor.
Any teacher — from preschool to graduate school — is eligible to be honored as part of the program. “It’s appropriate that we look back and say thank you,” said Garrett. “A wonderful way to do that is to provide a donation that will support outstanding students who plan to teach.”
For more information or to make a donation to the scholarship fund , contact the BSU Foundation at 1910 University Drive, Boise, ID 83725-1030 or at 426- 3276. All gifts are tax deductible.
