“SECONDARY ATTRACTIONS” EXHIBITION TO RUN FEB. 1-MARCH 1

“Secondary Attractions,” an exhibition featuring monochrome and color photography by Mark Hardy, will run Feb. 1-March 1 at the Boise State University Student Union Gallery.

The exhibition will include 30 hanging photographs taken by Hardy with old-model cameras such as Voigtlander, Zeiss, Arca Swiss, Pentax, Yashica, Olympus and Rollei. Most of the photographs in the show were made on trips Hardy took to tourist destinations or during family events.

The title, “Secondary Attractions,” is derived from Hardy’s preoccupation with details. “Although I would like to be able to capture the grand landscapes or make perceptive portraits, I usually find that I’m distracted from these main attractions by smaller-scale shadow reflections, patterns, and other details,” he explains. Originally from Wisconsin, Hardy now resides in Eagle.

A reception will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8 at the gallery. The reception, which is free and open to the public, is an opportunity for people to meet Hardy and ask questions about his work. The Student Union Gallery is located on the upper level of the Student Union. The gallery is open daily from 7 a.m.-ll p.m. Admission is free. The exhibition is sponsored by Student Union and Activities. For more information call 426-1223
