Boise State Offers Summer Shakespeare Workshop July 22-27

This summer Boise State University is offering “Bewitching Macbeth,” a five-course workshop to help individuals gain an in-depth understanding of the Shakespearean tragedy in preparation for the play’s performance at the Idaho Shakespeare Festival.

Classes include a discussion of the play’s background, the director’s perception, an actor’s preparation, the scenic, costume and lighting design, and the technical preparation for the preview performance.

The non-credit workshop begins with an orientation Monday, July 22, from noon-6 p.m. at the Liberal Arts Building, Room 106. Additional classes meet 8 a.m.-noon and 4-8p.m., July 23; 4-10 p.m., July 24; and 7 -11 p.m., July 26 — all at the Idaho Shakespeare Festival outdoor amphitheater. The fee is $160, which includes an Elizabethan dinner and admission to the preview night performance. Admission to the opening night performance is additional. To register by July 19, call 426-1709.

For those wishing to take the workshop for academic credit, one-, two- and three-credit options are available. More workshop sessions are required for the two- and three-credit program. Regular student fees apply, plus an additional $42 for the one- or two-credit class and $71 for the three-credit option. Call 426-1709 for more information.

Boise State’s Summer Programs offers more than 400 academic courses, workshops and programs, with or without university credit, for individuals to get a jump start on the fall semester or learn new skills. The classes are available at Boise State’s Canyon County Center in Nampa, the Base Education Center in Mountain Home and through distance education.
