Plenty of Summer Workshops Available at Boise State
A variety of summer workshops are still available through Boise State University’s Division of Extended Studies. Registration is ongoing through the summer; participants need only be admitted and registered before the workshop begins.
Workshops address a range of issues, from education to science to art. To see a current class schedule, visit http://broncoweb.boisestate.edu/. Following is a sample of what’s available:
 | Ecology of Raptors in the Snake River Area, June 25-26, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The ecology of birds of prey. Field trip the second day. |
 | Carving Folk Art Fish Decoys, June 26-27, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Designed to introduce folk art to middle and high school art classes. Taught at Meridian High School. |
 | Directing High School Debate, July 8-11, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Teaching speech and debate as competitive, co-curricular or extracurricular activities. |
 | Strength and Conditioning Training for Coaches, July 8-31, 7-10 p.m. Principles of speed training, agility drill, weight lifting, squatting, etc. |
 | Philosophy in Children’s Fiction, July 11-18, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Analyze and learn about basic philosophical content in children’s stories. |
 | Outdoor Adventure Education, July 15-16 (water-based) and July 17-18 (land-based), 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Educational benefits, safety management issues and group processes of using outdoor activities for education programs. |
 | Criminal Mediation, July 16-Aug. 13, 5:30-8:30 p.m. Mediate court-appointed misdemeanor cases, deal with defendants and victims of crime. Taught at Canyon County Center. |
 | The African Woman, July 24-25, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Examines her changing role in response to western influences and foreign religious perspectives. |
 | Choral Music Reading, July 24-26, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Focuses on performing new and selected choral pieces, application of technique for effective rehearsals. |
 | Successful(educational) Grant Writing, July 29-Aug. 1, 5:30-9:30 p.m. Practical experience in finding and funding grants for educational projects. |
Costs include a one-time $20 undergraduate admission fee for new students, $130.85 per credit for undergraduates or $162.85 per credit for graduate students and an additional workshop fee beginning at $15 per workshop.
