16TH ANNUAL CLIMBING COMPETITION AT BOISE STATE MARCH 16

The Boise State University Outdoor Center will host “Buck Off,” the largest climbing competition in the Treasure Valley from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, March 16 at the Boise State Climbing Gym (Kinesiology Building, Room G123).

“The competition is a great chance to evaluate your own skill level, meet other climbers and develop better skills,” said Tom Spearin, Boise State student and first-time competitor at last year’s event. Last year over 60 people participated, ranging in ability from beginner to advanced. A red point system will be used in the judging process. Climbers will be judged on speed and the number of completed climbs on both bouldering and vertical routes. Climbers of all abilities and ages are encouraged to compete in the event.

Pre-registration before March 15 is $20; on-site registration is $25. Each participant will receive a T-shirt and raffle ticket. For more information about the competition, call 426-1946 or go to www.boisestate.edu/recreation.
