STUDENT GROUP TAKES FIRST IN NATIONAL COMPETITION FOR 4TH STRAIGHT YEAR
For the fourth consecutive year, the Construction Management Association (CMA) at Boise State University has taken first place in one of the three national student construction championships sponsored by the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC).
CMA, comprised of Boise State construction management majors, claimed the Campus Activities award for the 2000-01 academic year after winning the same honor the previous three years.
The Boise State chapter captured its most recent national award through hours of campus service and participation in university-sponsored events. Boise State CM professor Marv Gabert serves as the group’s faculty adviser.
The AGC award was the second national title captured by Boise State’s department of construction management this spring. A team of Boise State CM students also took the national crown in the Mechanical Division at the Associated Schools of Construction competition in Reno, Nev., last month.
Construction management at Boise State is an accredited bachelor of science degree program. The program first began at BSU in 1979, and CMA has repeatedly won national awards since that time, including two consecutive first-place awards as Outstanding Student Chapter in 1993 and 1994.
CMA members not only enroll in challenging engineering and construction classes and complete general university requirements, but also dedicate hours of volunteer work to the extracurricular club.
