PUBLIC INVITED TO VIEW PHYSICS DEMONSTRATIONS

Daring physics demonstrations, ranging from breaking a wine glass with sound to puncturing a vacuum tube to fire a projectile, will be presented at 7:30 p.m. March 29 at Boise State University as part of a convention of the Utah-Idaho section of the American Association of Physics Teachers.

The physics demonstrations will be held in the Multipurpose Building Room 101 and are free and open to the public. The event is appropriate for those ages 4 and older who are not afraid of loud noises. Free event parking is available in the Morrison Center parking lot.

High school and college physics teachers attending the convention submitted proposals for the physics demonstrations, said Richard Reimann, a Boise State physics professor and vice president of the AAPT section. “It’s always a lot of fun, and it also gives us some new ideas for ways to present physics concepts in the classroom,” he said.
