The Center for Physical Activity and Sport at Boise State University and Saint Alphonsus’ Idaho Orthopaedic Institute will sponsor a Youth Sport Symposium March 15-16 at Boise State.

The conference seeks to promote positive participation in organized sports and will focus on issues related to instruction, training and the safety of the participant. Special emphasis will be placed on translating research to practice. The event is for coaches, teachers, parents, athletic trainers and students involved and/or interested in organized youth and interscholastic sports who want to expand their knowledge and skills related to understanding youth sport participation.

The Center for Physical Activity and Sport is a unit of Boise State’s department of kinesiology. Featured speakers include Maureen Weiss, a professor and director of Sport and Exercise Psychology in the Curry School of Education at the University of Virginia, and Dan Hawkins, Boise State head football coach.
