Led by a runner-up finish by Marisa Santos, five business technology students in the Boise State Selland College of Applied Technology fared well in the national competition of the Business Professionals of America (BPA).
Santos, Eagle, took second in Keyboarding Production and 24th in Fundamental Accounting to lead the Boise State contingent. Natasha Baltzor, Boise, was third in Advanced Word Processing Skills, fifth in Spreadsheet Applications & Analysis and 11th in Payroll Accounting. Baltzor also passed both Word and Excel MOUS exams at the core level.
Nikki Smith, Kuna, was seventh in Keyboarding Production; Melissa Frey, Castelford, was ninth in Application/Interview Skills and 12th in Legal Office Procedures; and April Cooper, Boise, was 14th in Fundamental Word Processing Skills and also passed the Word MOUS exam at the core level.
The students competed in the BPA’s national competition at the organization’s National Leadership Conference, which was held in Chicago earlier this month. The national competition annually attracts more than 3,000 secondary and postsecondary students interested in the business, office professional and technology fields.
