The Idaho Council on Economic Education recently recognized the deans of the Boise State University College of Business and Economics and the College of Education for their support of economic education programs.
Bill Lathen and Joyce Garrett were cited by the Council for their “collaborative efforts over the past two years creating enhanced efficiency and effectiveness in the work of the Council.” The awards were presented during a May 9 recognition breakfast sponsored by Wells Fargo.
Council executive director Jack Rucker said Lathen and Garrett have provided “new levels of administrative support and coordination that has enabled the Council to further its two most far-reaching activities — the Economics Fellows Master’s Degree in Economics program and the International Economic Summit program.”
These two programs have provided graduate training for 31 Idaho teachers and allowed 15,000 high school students to participate in the summit trade simulation activity over the past three years.
The Council, now in its 30th year hosted by Boise State, provides a wide range of professional development opportunities, materials and programs for Idaho K-12 teachers in the field of economics, entrepreneurship and personal finance.
