Boise State Names Three Professors as Foundation Scholars

Three faculty members have been honored by Boise State University as University Foundation Scholars for 2002. The awards are given annually for ongoing commitment, expertise and accomplishments in teaching, research/creative activities and professionally related service. Each winner received a $2,000 award.
Stephanie Witt, Boise State’s associate vice president for academic affairs, said it is important to recognize excellence among faculty members: “The recognition and monetary award are a wonderful way to do that.”
This year’s winners and finalists are:
Teaching: Eric Landrum, psychology. Landrum’s focus centers on college students’ success. Finalists were Richard McCloskey, biology, and Ron Pfeiffer, kinesiology.
Service: Rob Turrisi, psychology. Turrisi’s current research involves examining the psychological determinants of teen drinking and prevention of skin cancer. Florence Moorhead-Rosenberg, modern languages and literatures, was a finalist.
Research/Creative Activity: Peter Wollheim, communication. Wollheim is director of the Idaho Suicide Prevention Hotline. Finalists were Gary Moncrief, political science, and Del Parkinson, music.
