University Singers Invite New Members to Rehearsal Aug. 27
People who enjoy singing and performing are invited to join the new season of University Singers at Boise State University. The first rehearsal is 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, August 27, in Room C125 of the Morrison Center.
University Singers is open to community members and students, faculty and staff of Boise State. No previous choral experience is necessary, only an interest in learning more about vocal technique, sight reading and musicianship in an enjoyable and supportive environment. This fall University Singers will perform Haydn’s "Kleine Orgelmesse," as well as at a commemorative concert for the victims of Sept. 11.
Rehearsals are held Tuesday nights 7:15-9:30 p.m. Evening parking permits will be provided for members of the group.
University Singers will be conducted by Giselle Wyers, Boise State assistant professor of choral activities. Before coming to Boise State, Wyers was the interim conductor of the University of Arizona Symphonic Choir. Wyers, who holds a doctorate in musical arts, also has directed professional choruses and choirs, and has served as a professor at other Northwest colleges, including Lewis and Clark College and Linfield College in McMinnville, Ore.
