BOISE STATE PROFESSORS TO LEAD ‘THE PIANIST’
DISCUSSION AT THE FLICKS

Two Boise State University professors will direct a discussion following a Jan.
16 sneak preview screening of the film "The Pianist" at The Flicks.
The event follows the 6:45 p.m. showing. The film, directed by Roman Polanski,
officially opens Jan. 17.
Boise State professor and Middle East scholar Michael
Zirinsky and Boise State history professor Lynn Lubamersky, whose specialty is
Poland, will lead the discussion. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the
door; proceeds will benefit the Ahaveth Beth Israel synagogue construction
project. Tickets are available at The Flicks Theatre, 646 Fulton St., and
through Ahaveth Beth Israel.
"The Pianist" tells the true story of Wladyslaw
Szpilman, a brilliant young pianist in Warsaw who escaped deportation when the
Nazis invaded in 1939. The film details his struggles as he survives the
Holocaust with the aid of a German officer.
