The annual International Food, Song and Dance Festival, presented by Boise State University’s International Student Association, will be held from 6-9 p.m. Saturday Feb. 8 in the Student Union Jordan Ballroom. The theme for this year’s festival is "Celebrate the World," and it offers an opportunity to do so with a sampling of cuisine, dance and music from around the globe.

Food dishes that will be selected and prepared by current Boise State international students include: Malaysian chicken, Spanish beans with chorizo, Indian rice with curry and vegetables, a Costa Rican marinated salad called Escabeche and a vegetarian Italian pasta dish. Dessert will be sweet Swedish rice and Tres Leches, a Latin American favorite.

Entertainment will also celebrate world cultures and feature a Russian opera singer and dancers from Bangladesh, India and Latin America, among other cultural performances. Many of the performers are Boise State international students. Boise State currently has about 300 international students from 60 different countries.

This year will again feature a raffle of cultural items. A recipe book, which includes recipes of the evening’s menu, will also be available for purchase for $1. Festival tickets, on sale starting Jan. 17, are $12 for adults and $8 for Boise State students and children 12 and under at Select-a-Seat outlets or by contacting 426-1494 or www.idahotickets.com. Advance tickets are recommended as this event usually sells out, however, any remaining tickets will be available at the door the night of the festival. For more information call 426-3652.
