SECOND ANNUAL POETRY SLAM AT BOISE STATE PROMISES
TO BE A HIT
Boise State Universitys second annual Poetry Slam will
feature innovation, creativity and energy through the spoken word. Poets can
register for free at the door to compete in a slam style poetry contest that
will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, at the Special Events Center. Students,
faculty, staff and community members may all present poems, but only Boise State
students are eligible to win the cash prizes.
Contestants will be allowed one to three minutes to
present their piece of original spoken words. The top three student poets win
cash prizes; $100 first place, $75 second place and $50 third place. Five people
will be chosen randomly from the audience to adjudicate the event, scoring each
poem on a 0.1-10.0 scale.
