HOW WILL I CREATE PEACE IN THE WORLD?

By Andrew Kowaleski

Violence is everywhere in the world, but I can make peace where I live. Here are some examples of what I could do. I will include everybody in whatever games I am playing. I will invite people to join together and play games. I will let everybody play whether they are fat or short. I won’t make fun of anybody. I will not tease anybody who has a different skin color, who is skinny or fat, or different from me in any other way. I will not discriminate.

I will not hurt anybody. I won’t kick, push, punch, trip or do any other physical contact that will hurt anyone. I will not fight back. I will not come back with revenge on someone who has hurt me. I will calm down and talk it over with that person. If my friend and I got into a fight, I would say, "You know I do not want to fight you, and I know you do not want to fight me." I would tell him we are still friends.

I would also try to stop conflicts between other people. I will ask them how the fight or problem started. Then I would ask they why they hit each other or called each other names. I would explain to them that fighting is never a solution. I would encourage them to be friends. There may not be peace in the world, but there is peace where I live and I enjoy it.

HOW DO I CREATE PEACE WHERE I LIVE?

By Skye Jordan

Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream for creating peace, which included rights for all people. My dream for creating peace is very simple. I believe that it starts with kindness, consideration, and compassion. We are all on this planet together. No matter what race we are born into, we all live on this earth, so really we all live together. We all need to learn to treat each other the way that we want to be treated.

There are many ways that I try to be kind and considerate where I live. I stand up for others, and I never judge people by how they look. I would be sad if I could not go to school with my friend just because she has red hair and freckles and I have blonde hair and none. Colors do not matter, it does not matter what is on the outside. It only matters what is on the inside.

Kindness is shown in many ways such as a helping hand or kind words. When you see a person in need you should help them. It should not matter if they are black and white, fat or thin, tall or short, the only thing that should matter is that they need help.

I know that there must be more to creating peace than just showing kindness, being considerate, and having compassion, but that sure makes a good start.

HOW DO I CREATE PEACE WHERE I LIVE?

By Jelena Borak

I would create peace not by judging others by how they look, or where they are from. But how they act toward others. I am from Europe (Yugoslavia) and I know it wouldn’t feel too good if someone made fun of me because I wasn’t from the U.S. Some people think the only thing that matters is your skin color or where you are from; well I think they’re wrong. We are all the same inside. The wonderful thing about the U.S. is that everyone gets an equal chance to express him or herself. Everyone should get a chance to walk down the street and not be stared at. Martin Luther King Jr. was an inspiration to a lot of people including me. I promise not to judge people by how look but how they act.

You should too. When you go to the library and you find a book that your friends told you was good but when you looked at the cover it looked boreing so you didn’t get it so someone broth you that some book to read, you read it and think it’s not so bad, the world would be a better place if we didn’ t judge a book by it’s cover.

COMO PUEDO CREAR PAZ DONDE VIVO?

Rubi Rojas
