The Rossetti String Quartet, inspired by the vivid use of
color and fresh vision of pre-Raphaelite poet and painter Daniel Gabriel
Rossetti, strives for the same qualities in their music making. The Boise
Chamber Music Society and the Boise State University music department present
the Rossetti String Quartet for a Boise Chamber Music Series concert at 8 p.m.
Friday, Feb. 14, in the Morrison Center Recital Hall.
This American quartet includes founding members Henry
Gronnier, violin; Thomas Diener, viola; Eric Gaenslen, cello; and new first
violinist, Timothy Fain. The quartet was formed about six years ago and made its
London and Berlin debuts just one year ago. The Quartet has been heard live on
National Public Radio’s "Performance Today" and has held residencies
in Kansas and California.
A recent Washington Post reviewer wrote, "The
Rossetti’s tone had a sensual finish, and its phrasing practically palpitated
with ardor and mystery."
The Friday concert will feature works by Haydn, Schubert
and Dvorak. Tickets for this concert are $15 regular admission and $10 for
students and seniors. For tickets or additional information, call Jeanne Belfy
at 426-1216.
The Rossetti String Quartet will also present "A
Little Morning Music," a chamber music master class for select Boise State
ensembles, at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15, in the Morrison Center Recital
Hall. This event, free and open to the public, is supported by the Boise Chamber
Music Society and the Boise State music department.
