NUTRITION EXPERT TO SPEAK DURING EATING DISORDERS
AWARENESS WEEK
 |
Deanna Latson, internationally recognized
nutritional educator, is concerned with students eating habits. There
is a rise in eating disorders on college campuses and many people hold
misconceptions on how food affects the body. She is dedicated to educating
people on the long-term consequences of unhealthy eating and replacing
food with supplements. |
Her free lecture titled "Eat Right! Feel Good! Look
Great!" will be at 7 p.m. on Feb. 24 at the Student Union Hatch Ballroom.
This program will provide a new understanding about food and how it affects the
body, tips on how to avoid colds and flus and increase energy, how to maintain a
healthy weight and the dangers of eating disorders and fad dieting.
Latson began speaking in 1998 with one of the most popular
National Association of College Activities National Lecture Showcases ever
presented. She transforms audiences with nutritionally sound health advice and
her personal story about her own road to great health. Before switching to
better eating she suffered from an eating disorder, excess weight, severe
migraines, colds, flus and low energy. During college, Latson began eating right
and dramatically restored herself to great health within one year. Her story is
featured in several books including "Perfect Body" and "Major in
Success." Latson lives in San Diego where she is the director of the Good
Thinking Co., a provider of success-oriented services, products and experiences.
Latsons lecture is only one activity during Eating
Disorders Awareness Week, Feb. 24-27, at Boise State. A booth in the Student
Union will provide information on various health topics such as nutrition and
body image, while screenings and presentations offer opportunities for learning
more. A calendar of events follows:
