HAND-CRAFTED GUITAR RECONSTRUCTIONS FEATURED AT CONCERT
baldassarre.jpg (313299 bytes) Antonio Baldassarre, 86, has an unusual hobby � building replicas of period guitars from bygone eras. His reconstructions have been deemed world class by guitar aficionados and have been exhibited in museums and shows. Baldassarre has been building reconstructions for more than 30 years.There will be an opportunity to hear four of Baldassarre�s guitars when his son, Boise State guitar professor Joseph Baldassarre, performs at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, in the Morrison Center Recital Hall.

Admission for this Faculty Artist Series concert is $5 for adults, $3 for seniors and free to students of all ages and Boise State faculty and staff.

Joseph Baldassarre will perform first on replicas of baroque guitars by Antonio Stradivari and Jean Voboam. He will play suites by Remy Medard, Robert deVise� and Gaspar Sanz. In the second half of the program, Baldassarre will play classical guitar and will perform mostly South American music, including pieces by Heitor Villa-Lobos, Pernambucco and Agustin Barrios.

Antonio Baldassarre, a retired cabinetmaker and aviator who emigrated to the United States from Italy in 1949, moved to Boise last May. He will attend the concert.
