8 p.m. Feb. 14 and 15, and at 2 p.m. Feb. 16. Tickets, available through
Select-a-Seat, are $12 general and $6 for students. Matinee tickets are $10 and
$5 respectively.
Free parking is available in the Library and Liberal Arts
lots for all shows.
"The Vagina Monologues" is part of a nationwide
initiative involving college- and university-sponsored productions. The V-Day
campaign is aimed at ending sexual violence against women and proclaiming
Valentine’s Day as a day to celebrate women and end abuse. For more
information on V-Day, visit www.vday.org.
The play is a series of monologues based on interviews by
playwright Eve Ensler with a diverse group of hundreds of real women. Three new
monologues will debut this year, two of them written by English professor Tom
Peele and former Boise State student Lauren Tweedy. The third dialogue was
written by Ensler. Although the show includes frank language and adult content,
organizers hope it will be a catalyst for increased understanding. Twenty
actors, a mixture of Boise State students, staff and community members, comprise
the cast. Jennifer Dunn, who has worked with the New Heritage Theatre, is
director.
