BOISE STATE WOMEN’S CENTER LAUNCHES INFORMATIONAL WEB SITE

Women have won 11 Nobel prizes in Science and Technology, 10 Nobel prizes for Peace and nine Nobel prizes for Literature. Despite this fact, women’s contributions to society are often overlooked in history books and much of the existing information about women is either inaccurate or incomplete.

To counter this, the Boise State Women’s Center has created a new Web site for and about women at www.whydontyouknow.com. Launched in anticipation of the center’s annual Women’s History Month Celebration, the site is a venue for examining things "we don’t know" but should about women, such as statistics, relationship issues, historical facts and myths, feminism, violence against women and sports history.

The Web site will be an ongoing project, with visitors invited to add their own information about women’s contributions, history and concerns to the site.

To learn more about women’s issues or Women’s History Month events, contact the Women’s Center at 426-4259.
