THE
DIVAS OF BOISE PERFORM FOR WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH AT BOISE STATE
As part of the Women’s History Month celebration
at Boise State University, Rosalie Sorrels and The Divas of Boise will
perform at 8 p.m. Monday, March 10, at the Special Events Center. Tickets
are available through Select-a-Seat, 426-1494, or www.idahotickets.com,
$8 general admission and $5 for Boise State students, faculty, staff,
alumni and seniors (55 and older).
Rosalie Sorrels of Grimes Creek, Idaho, is a
storyteller, songwriter, singer and author of "Way Out in
Idaho," a collection of Idaho folk songs. She left her Idaho home at
19, married and had five kids, then divorced and took her children with
her while she traveled the country as a folksinger and storyteller. She
has recorded 22 solo albums and appeared on countless compilation works.
The Divas of Boise were created as a celebration of
the talent and creativity of women for the first "Celebration of
Women in the Arts" in 1995. From the theater to visual arts to the
nightclub scene, these writers, entertainers and musicians come from many
backgrounds and walks of life.
This event is sponsored by the Boise State Women’s
Center. Women’s History Month strives to celebrate the triumphs and
accomplishments of ordinary women doing extraordinary things. The Boise
State Women’s Center recently launched a website for and about women at www.whydontyouknow.com
to promote awareness of issues about women that "we don’t
know."
