MUSICA PACIFICA CLOSES BOISE CHAMBER MUSIC SEASON

The Boise Chamber Music Society and the Boise State University department of music present the Baroque ensemble Musica Pacifica for the final concert of the Boise Chamber Music Series, at 8 p.m. Friday, April 18, in the Morrison Center Recital Hall.

Last heard in Boise three years ago, the period-instrument group features recorder virtuoso Judith Linsenberg, violinist Elizabeth Blumenstock and oboist Gonzalo Ruiz, with cellist David Morris and harpsichordist Yuko Tanaka on continuo. Musica Pacifica's recordings of Bach, Marais, Scarlatti, and Mancini on the Virgin/Veritas and Dorian labels have won both national and international acclaim.

Friday’s concert is titled “Continental Breakfast: A Smorgasbord of Early Music,” featuring the music of Boismortier, Bach, Matteis, Paisible, Handel, Corelli, and Vivaldi. The program contains a lot of variety, with something for the connoisseur as well as the neophyte.

Tickets are $15 general, $10 students of all ages and seniors. For tickets or additional information, call Jeanne Belfy at 426-1216.

Musica Pacifica will also present “A Little Morning Music,” a mini-concert and discussion of Baroque performance practice, at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 19, in the Morrison Center Recital Hall. This event is free and open to the public.
