GENE HARRIS FESTIVAL KICK-OFF PARTY MOVED INDOORS DUE TO WEATHER

The Gene Harris Jazz Festival Kick-off party will take place inside the Boise Centre on the Grove from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 3. The event was planned for outdoors but moved inside in anticipation of inclement weather.

The free event gets the Festival started with a concert by the Boise State Big Band and other special guests. Food and drinks will be available.

The 6th annual Gene Harris Jazz Festival continues through Saturday, April 6.

The schedule is as follows:

Thursday, April 3, Club Night, 5-11 p.m., downtown Boise. Eleven venues will be filled with a variety of jazz. All are within walking distance. One ticket covers admission to all. Tickets: $25 at Select-a-Seat or at the door.

Friday, April 4, Singin' and Swingin' Vocal Jazz Extravaganza, 7 p.m., The Pavilion at Boise State. Nearly 1,000 high school and junior high school students, as well as several vocal jazz choirs, are expected to attend the educational component of this year's Festival. They will learn from professional jazz artists in clinics and compete for prizes and the chance to open Friday and Saturday evening concerts in The Pavilion at Boise State.

Tickets are still available for all events. Special half-price tickets are available for employees who have been laid off from their jobs. The tickets are good for general admission seating only and must be purchased at The Pavilion box office on the Boise State campus. Ticket buyers must show proof of their recent layoff.

Other discounted ticket offers include a $10 student ticket that covers admission to both Friday and Saturday night concerts. Tickets can be purchased at The Pavilion box office or at the door. Students of all ages may purchase the tickets, but must show a student ID.
