BOISE STATE NURSING PROGRAM RECEIVES CONTINUING
ACCREDITATION
The Boise State University department of nursing received
continuing national accreditation for its associate and bachelor of science
nursing programs. The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission
announced the accreditation, which is effective until fall 2010, in a letter
last week to President Charles Ruch.
Accreditation is recognition that the program has been
evaluated and periodically re-evaluated by a qualified, independent group of
respected and competent peers.
“Achievement of accreditation indicates the nursing
program is of high quality, has clear and appropriate educational objectives,
and is providing educational experiences where its objectives can be fulfilled,”
said Pam Springer, nursing department chair.
Boise State has had ongoing accreditation of a nursing
program since 1969.
The Boise State nursing department features a curriculum
offering multiple educational options within one baccalaureate program. Students
earning bachelor of science and associate of science degrees are eligible to
take the licensure examination to become a registered nurse. Students completing
a four-semester certificate in practical nursing may take the licensure exam to
become a practical nurse.
