BOISE STATE BREAKS GROUND ON STUDENT APARTMENT
COMPLEX
Boise State University officials broke ground today on a
new student apartment complex that, when completed by Fall Semester 2004, will
substantially increase campus housing for Boise State students.
The complex will provide space for 504 residents with
separate communities for families and couples as well as singles. It also will
include a convenience store, washers and dryers in all units and a community
center. It will be located just off of University Drive across the street from
the parking structure.
In addition to the complex, Boise State broke ground on
new residence halls in March. This will create a distinct community geared to
the needs of younger, single students. This community will incorporate Chaffee,
Driscoll and Morrison halls. Included in this project will be community lounges,
seminar rooms, faculty offices and faculty apartments.
The new suite-style residence halls will accommodate 336
students in mostly single rooms, arranged in suites of four to eight people. The
halls have been designed to complement Driscoll and Morrison halls.
The combined projects will cost about $29 million, with
the bonds being retired through received rents and housing payments.
