BOISE STATE AUCTION 2003 FEATURES FESTIVITIES AND
HUNDREDS OF ITEMS
A trip to Tahiti, a one-year lease on a 2002 Ford Mustang
and hundreds of other items will go to the highest bidder at Auction 2003, Boise
State University’s largest fund-raiser. Hosted by the Boise State Alumni
Association and the Bronco Athletic Association, the 11th biennial dinner and
auction will be held on May 3 at the Boise Centre on the Grove. Doors open at
4:30 p.m. for a silent auction; dinner is at 6 p.m. followed by a live auction.
Tickets must be purchased in advance and are 100 per person, available by
calling 426-2570.
Proceeds will benefit the Athletic Scholarship Endowment
Fund, new freshmen scholarships and capital improvements to the Alumni Center.
Past auctions have raised $2.3 million, with $260,000 netted at the 2001 event.
Boise State alumnus and Micron Technology CEO Steve
Appleton and his wife Dalynn will be honored at the auction. Appleton was a
member of the Bronco tennis team from 1979-82 and is known for his generosity to
his alma mater. He most recently donated close to $2 million to the university
to build the Appleton Tennis Complex, a six-court outdoor facility that opened
in May 2002.
The list of about 400 auction items will include fine
jewelry, a grandfather clock and a package for a trip to Hawaii with tickets to
the Boise State vs. Hawaii football game and a cruise.
