CHORISTERS SPRING CONCERT BENEFITS BOISE STATE SCHOLARSHIPS

Img_0089.jpg (762283 bytes)The Boise Choristers, a women’s choral group, will present “The Color of Music” at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, May 21 and 22, in the Morrison Center Recital Hall. Admission is free, but donations are accepted and encouraged. Money raised from the annual concert is used to fund a Boise State University music scholarship. Recipients of the 2002-2003 scholarships will also perform at the concert.

Suitable for all ages, the program reflects the broad musical interests of the group, and this year includes a selection of sacred/classical songs, American music from the Civil War era and songs that have a color in their title — everything from “Sweet Georgia Brown” to “Purple People Eater.” The Boise Choristers sing under the direction of Karma Ellsworth.

The Choristers were established around 1918 and have performed annual concerts for more than 60 years. Their history also includes singing as a part of the local opera chorus and traveling around the country to entertain at the National Federation of Music conferences with which they are associated.

For further information regarding the concert or donations to the scholarship fund, contact Lynn Melton at (208) 939-0756.
