SOFTWARE DONATION BENEFITS BOISE STATE NETWORKING
PROGRAM
Castle Rock Computing of Saratoga, Calif., has donated
software to the networking and telecommunications program at Boise State
University’s College of Business and Economics. The recent donation marks the
company’s second to the program in two years.
Seven copies of the company’s most sophisticated network
management products — SNMPc Enterprise Edition — are capable of managing
networks with up to 25,000 devices each. The program includes the ability to
remotely manage distributed networks no matter how geographically dispersed they
may be. The software is valued at more than $20,000. Castle Rock also donated
$28,000 worth of software in October 2001.
The software is used for the networking management class
held in the department’s networking and telecommunication teaching lab, funded
in part by a grant from the Micron Technology Foundation. Boise State is one of
only a handful of universities in the country that offers a degree in networking
and telecommunications.
