FABULOUS CHANCELLORS DANCE CONCERT TO BENEFIT MDA
The Fabulous Chancellors band will perform classic rock
music for a dance benefiting the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) from 8:30
p.m.-12:30 a.m. Saturday, April 19. The event is part of the grand opening
of Savvy’s, formerly the Hi-Ho Club, Brandi’s Place and Club 50s. The club
is located at 3933 Chinden Blvd. in Garden City. A $10 cover charge will benefit
MDA; attendees must be 21 or older.
The Fabulous Chancellors were formed in 1959 and had
several regional hits, including “Hey Girl,” “My Angel” and “Raindrops.”
Ross Miller reorganized the band in 1989, with Boise State University music
professor Joe Baldassarre, and the group recorded an album titled “The
Fabulous Chancellors.” The band was recently selected as the Clear Channel
Radio house band and it has opened for several name acts, including the Tokens
and the Byrds.
Band members include Baldassarre, lead guitar, flute,
keyboard and harmonica; Stephen Baldassarre, drums; Blair Crook, bass and
trumpet; Boise State counselor Jamie Jensen, sax and keyboard; Jon McKay, lead
vocals and guitar; and Miller, guitar and bass.
