BOISE STATE RIDING SMOOTH WITH FREE WEEKLY BIKE MECHANIC
A bicycle mechanic offers free services to members of the
Boise State University community from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. every Thursday in front of
the Campus Recreation Center (REC). The REC is located across from the Student
Union on University Drive.
During this time, bicyclists can also work on their own
bikes under the professional guidance of a mechanic, who makes safety and other
minor adjustments.
“This is a free drop-in session and is our way to
promote alternative transportation,” said Geoff Harrison, assistant director
of Outdoor Programs. Harrison said the goal of the program is to get faculty,
staff and students out of their cars and onto bikes.
The bike mechanic is just one of a number of Outdoor
Program events. Services provided by the Outdoor Center are designed to foster
student interest and involvement in Idaho’s excellent outdoor recreational
opportunities. For a complete list of programs and seminars, visit http://www.boisestate.edu/recreation/outdoor.
