BOISE STATE NAMED BEST FOR 'REAL WORLD'
THIRD
CONSECUTIVE YEAR
Boise State University has been listed in "Great
Colleges for the Real World" - a guide for prospective students - for the
third consecutive year.
The publication features about 200 colleges that
"attempt to deliver what students want" and that "feature
programs that offer a tangible return on investment in the form of a job or
career path."
"Boise State University is proud to offer our
students 'Real Education for the Real World,'" said Boise State University
President Charles Ruch. "Our location in one of the most dynamic regions in
the country gives our students internships, service learning opportunities and
job opportunities."
Among the factors author Michael Viollt used to evaluate
colleges were the population of surrounding cities, job placement,
non-traditional student programs and diversity of student body.
"Today's student is more likely to be a financially
independent working adult balancing college with family, social activities, work
and other responsibilities," Viollt wrote. "They are a different type
of student with different goals than past generations, which has led to a need
to rethink the criteria used for selecting a college."
The book is available for $11 from Octameron Associates, www.octameron.com.
