TUBAS AND TROMBONES SHINE AT MAY 6 BOISE STATE
CONCERT
You may find yourself wondering, “How low will they go?”
in this concert featuring Boise State University student tuba and euphonium
soloists, a tuba-euphonium quartet, the Trombone Choir and the Tuba-Euphonium
Ensemble. It all happens at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, in the Morrison Center
Recital Hall. Admission is $5 general, $3 seniors and free to students of all
ages and Boise State faculty and staff.
The trombone choir, under the direction of Boise State
music professor David Mathie, will perform ‘Mein Lieb wil mit mir Kriegen”
by Hans Leo Hassler, “La Bavara” by Giovanni Marino Cesare and “Elsa’s
Procession to the Cathedral from Lohengrin” by Richard Wagner.
Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble pieces, under the direction of
Boise State music professor Michael Fischer, include “Gymnopedie No. 1” by
Erik Satie, “Theme From ‘New York, New York’” arranged by Skip Gray, “Southwestern
Brass” by Kenneth Friedrich and “Heavy Metal” by Eugene Anderson. (A
euphonium is very similar to a baritone horn.)
