TUBAS AND TROMBONES SHINE AT MAY 6 BOISE STATE
CONCERT
You may find yourself wondering, �How low will they go?�
in this concert featuring Boise State University student tuba and euphonium
soloists, a tuba-euphonium quartet, the Trombone Choir and the Tuba-Euphonium
Ensemble. It all happens at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, in the Morrison Center
Recital Hall. Admission is $5 general, $3 seniors and free to students of all
ages and Boise State faculty and staff.
The trombone choir, under the direction of Boise State
music professor David Mathie, will perform �Mein Lieb wil mit mir Kriegen�
by Hans Leo Hassler, �La Bavara� by Giovanni Marino Cesare and �Elsa�s
Procession to the Cathedral from Lohengrin� by Richard Wagner.
Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble pieces, under the direction of
Boise State music professor Michael Fischer, include �Gymnopedie No. 1� by
Erik Satie, �Theme From �New York, New York�� arranged by Skip Gray, �Southwestern
Brass� by Kenneth Friedrich and �Heavy Metal� by Eugene Anderson. (A
euphonium is very similar to a baritone horn.)
