FREE ADVENTURE FILM FESTIVAL COMES TO BOISE STATE
APRIL 29
Catch the “Elements of Adrenaline Film Festival Tour”
as it stops by Boise State University on Tuesday, April 29. The free event,
organized by Boise State Outdoor Programs, will be at 7 p.m. in the Student
Union Hatch Ballroom.
Powered by Honda Element and Outside Magazine, Emmy
Award-winning adventure cinematographer Scott Lindgren pulls off a filmmaker’s
ultimate challenge — producing three adventure films
in three months, followed by a national tour. Topics covered include kayaking,
skiing and base jumping.
Lindgren specializes in heart-pumping, adrenaline-filled
expeditions. He has produced the “Teva Liquid Lifestyles” kayaking series as
well as “Into the Tsangpo Gorge,” which was featured on Outdoor Life
Network. Lindgren was also featured on the cover of the July 2002 Outside
Magazine.
For the “Elements of Adrenaline” tour, Lindgren and a
posse of professional athletes and cinematographers traveled to Africa to film
kayaking at its wildest. Then they were off to Alaska to film Olympic skiers
taming the formidable Chugach Mountains. Finally, they headed to northern
California for the ultimate base jumping endeavor.
Following is a brief description of each film:
“Outta Africa” — An African river expedition
filmed in January 2003. An international team explores two of the most
treacherous rivers Africa has to offer. Overcoming obstacles in the form of
poisonous snakes, hippos, African wilderness and some of the biggest whitewater
in the world, these athletes endure and conquer in a land where the odds are
undoubtedly against them.
“Burning Time” — X Games and Olympic
champions Zach and Regie Christ embark on a soulful journey to ride the ultimate
alpine terrain of Haines, Alaska. Together with pioneers of big mountain skiing,
these brothers learn to safely navigate avalanche-prone terrain and make tracks
where nobody has gone before.
“24 Hours” — The infamous Shane McKonkey and
other Red Bull athletes, with nothing but a pack on their back, jump from any
and every bridge, antenna and cliff they can find in a period of 24 hours. This
could well be the most aggressive film, in the most aggressive sport, ever
produced. The stakes are high, the athletes are professional, and the clock is
ticking.
Beginning April 17 at San Francisco’s Palace of Fine
Arts, the tour will travel the countryside visiting 30 cities in 34 days. Two
Honda Elements will begin the tour, each complete with tons of free gear for
raffle drawings at each location — including the chance to win one of the
Hondas.
