The Boise State University department of music is offering three music concerts on May 9, offering a variety of fare ranging from chamber music to vocal masterworks from the Renaissance. Admission to each concert is $5 general, $3 students and free for students of all ages and Boise State faculty and staff.

A chamber music recital kicks off the evening at 7 p.m. in the Morrison Center Recital Hall. The performance features the music of Idaho composer Carol Matthews, including her new piece “As Dusk in Paradise” for soprano, oboe and percussion. Performers include Liana Tyson, Blake Tyson and guest musicians from the University of Oregon.

Violist and Boise State music professor Linda Kline Lamar joins with pianist and Boise State music department chair James Cook to perform works by Bach, Lizst, Womak and Shostakovich at 8 p.m. in the Boise State Hemingway Center. This concert is part of the Faculty Artist Series.

Finally, the Meistersingers will perform at 7:30 p.m. at St. Michael’s Episcopal Cathedral at Eighth and State streets in Boise. The concert features J.S. Bach’s “Lobet dem Herrn,” as well as masterworks from the Renaissance, Baroque and contemporary periods. The evening also includes the Idaho premiere of Robert Kyr’s “Waging Peace Through Music.”
