THREE MUSIC CONCERTS SLATED FOR MAY 9 AT BOISE
STATE UNIVERSITY
The Boise State University department of music is offering
three music concerts on May 9, offering a variety of fare ranging from chamber
music to vocal masterworks from the Renaissance. Admission to each concert is $5
general, $3 students and free for students of all ages and Boise State faculty
and staff.
� A chamber music recital kicks
off the evening at 7 p.m. in the Morrison Center Recital Hall. The performance
features the music of Idaho composer Carol Matthews, including her new piece �As
Dusk in Paradise� for soprano, oboe and percussion. Performers include Liana
Tyson, Blake Tyson and guest musicians from the University of Oregon.
� Violist and Boise
State music professor Linda Kline Lamar joins with pianist and Boise State music
department chair James Cook to perform works by Bach, Lizst, Womak and
Shostakovich at 8 p.m. in the Boise State Hemingway Center. This concert is part
of the Faculty Artist Series.
� Finally, the
Meistersingers will perform at 7:30 p.m. at St. Michael�s Episcopal Cathedral
at Eighth and State streets in Boise. The concert features J.S. Bach�s �Lobet
dem Herrn,� as well as masterworks from the Renaissance, Baroque and
contemporary periods. The evening also includes the Idaho premiere of Robert Kyr�s
�Waging Peace Through Music.�
