Art
students at Boise State University will present a unique
interactive exhibition titled
do it May 11-15 in Gallery
2 in the Hemingway Western Studies Center. The Hemingway Center
is located northwest of the Student Union. The free exhibition
is open from noon-5 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday
through Thursday.
do it is a
collaborative exhibition of works created by the students of
Boise State art professor Cheryl K. Shurtleff. Each piece is an
interpretation of instructions for creating works of art written
by prominent contemporary artists such as Yoko Ono, Ilya Kabakov,
Jason Rhodes, Christian Boltanski and others. The artists must
exercise their interpretative skills in a unique realization of
the instructions. The idea is not to recreate or copy works, but
instead to "interpret" the instructions to create
something unique.
do it is also interactive,
and visitors will have an opportunity to participate in the
completion of the various works of art exhibited.
