The campus Recreation Center (REC)
at Boise State University is continuing its personal training
for REC members at an affordable rate throughout the summer.
“The prices for training here
are very reasonable compared with local training rates,”
said Lisa Stuppy, program director. Sessions in the Boise area
average $35-$75 compared with Boise State’s $20-$25.
Personal training became
available on campus this spring and has been well received,
said Stuppy.
“I think the most successful
part of the program is that clients are getting the personal
attention they need to make the changes that they want to see
in themselves,” she said. “It’s been amazing to see how
people have enjoyed working with their trainers.”
The REC welcomes all levels of
exercisers into training sessions; members don’t have to be
fit to have a personal trainer. Summer training sessions are
initially sold in eight-, 12-, or 16-session packages. After
completion of the initial package, clients can pay for as many
additional sessions as they would like. Each session lasts for
about an hour with a minimum of two sessions per week for
one-on-one attention from a highly skilled personal trainer.
Stuppy is one of the seven
trainers available over the summer. In addition to a master’s
degree in exercise and sports earned through Boise State, she
is also a certified strength and conditioning specialist.
“All the trainers have been
taught a lot up front and have done a great job extending
their training into application,” Stuppy said. “We all
work hard with our clients and that shows.”
Boise State will offer other
options through the summer as well, including $15 progress
assessments at any time during training and free equipment
orientations for those looking to become familiar with the
equipment in the REC.
