Boise
State University’s second annual Summer DanceFest
Choreography Festival features four premieres of outstanding
new choreography performed by DanceFest Workshop participants.
Ranging from contemporary ballet to jazz, modern and beyond,
the performance, presented by the department of theatre arts,
will be an entertaining evening of dance with insight and
comments from the choreographers.
Performances are at 7 p.m.
Friday and Saturday, June 20 and 21, at the Morrison Center
Stage II. Tickets are $3 at the door.
Renowned choreographer and
master teacher Eloy Barragan will present a beautiful and
complex contemporary ballet to Tchaikovsky’s “Souvenirs.”
Modern instructor, dancer and
choreographer Lauren Edson’s piece is an energetic,
hip-swinging dance to a medley of much-loved Elvis Presley
tunes.
Jazz instructor and
choreographer Kelli Brown has created a dance club gone wild
from “The Sound of Milwaukee” by Fat Boy Slim.
The performance also includes a
radical, intriguing trio to music from Cirque de Soleil,
choreographed and performed by Idaho Dance Theatre company
members Jennifer Freeman, Leif Hansen and Yurek Hansen.
This is a unique opportunity to
experience new works of choreography imbued with energy,
emotion and athleticism. For further information contact
