The Boise State University Student Union Gallery will host an
exhibition of photography by Peter Sacks, “In Another Light,” Aug. 15-Oct. 2.
An opening reception will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15. Free
parking will be available in the Student Union Visitors’ Lot.
Sacks’ work captures the nuances of light and space in what
might otherwise be ordinary photos of objects, scenes and people. “I’m
inclined to both color and black-and-white photography, allowing the nature of
the image, and my emotional response to it, to shape the format of the final
print,” Sacks said. “I try not to be easily categorized as a photographer, and
hope that the eclectic nature of my images speaks for itself.”
Sacks became a serious photographer in 1997 following a
career as a journalist and author. His work has been shown in several juried
exhibitions, including the National Fine Art Show held at the Art Source
Gallery in Boise in June and the San Diego Union-Tribune Focus on Travel Photo
Competition held this past April.
