Boise
State University President Bob Kustra will begin hosting the weekly radio
program New Horizons in Education at 3:30 p.m. Friday Aug. 29 on NPR News 91.
Kustra is an experienced broadcaster, having hosted his own program at
Eastern Kentucky University, where he previously served as president. Prior to
that, he declined an offer to host an afternoon talk show on WLS in Chicago,
where he was serving as Illinois’ lieutenant governor.
In his first State of the University address to faculty and staff on Monday, Kustra said, “My guests will be newsmakers, dignitaries, authors, faculty, staff
and students discussing important issues of the day. The goal is high-quality,
interesting radio. But the most important outcome, I hope, will be to showcase
Boise State in yet another venue as a metropolitan research university of
distinction, and to enhance our reputational currency.”
“We are excited about this addition to our programming,” said NPR News 91
program director Jim East. “Dr. Kustra has a wonderful on-air presence and New
Horizons in Education will help us by providing a locally produced talk show
that helps us connect even more directly to the region.”
NPR News 91 is a service of Boise State Radio and Boise State University.
NPR News 91 is heard on KBSX, 91.5 FM Boise; KBSY, 88.5 FM Burley; KBSJ, 91.3 FM
Jackpot; and KBSQ, 90.7 FM McCall. Boise State Radio includes NPR News 91, KBSU – Arts and Cultural Programming,
and Idaho’s Jazz Station.
