Public Invited To Free "Celebration Of Education" On Sept. 3

A “Celebration of Education” featuring speeches by national and state education leaders, live music, refreshments and a raffle will be held 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept 3, on the Student Union patio at Boise State University. The gala event, sponsored by the Boise State Teacher Education Association, is free and the public is invited. Carolyn Crowder, an Oklahoma teacher who was recently elected to the National Education Association Executive Committee, will speak at the celebration. Other speakers include Bob Kustra, president of Boise State; Marilyn Howard, state superintendent of education; Kathy Phelan, president of the Idaho Education Association; and Joyce Garrett, dean of Boise State’s College of Education. Suns of Beach will perform and a raffle will be held featuring restaurant meals, a night on the town and artwork. Proceeds from the raffle will benefit Boise State’s Teacher Education Association.
